Maharashtra is steadily holding the attention of the global who’s who of industry and commerce. The recent meeting of the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, testifies it. The MoUs signed with several diverse stakeholders therein are not just an indicator of financial commitment to Maharashtra. They are pathways to bridges for a balanced socioeconomic development of the state, and we should aim to maximize their benefits. The acid test of the success of any policy initiative lies in its ability to create socioeconomic opportunities, especially for the downtrodden, and, by this metric, the state government has fared reasonably well. We now need to compare ourselves not with the rest of the country, but with the world.
