The Prime Minister has called for collaborative efforts between the government and the private sector for the rapid rollout of 5G services. He said that the services will contribute $ 450 billion to the Indian economy in the coming 15 years; and will also impact governance positively. The wide-scale deployment of 5G communication networks along with other connectivity solutions will certainly help unlock a broad range of socioeconomic and policy activities. They include; the optimization of service delivery; decision-making; and end-user experience. It will thus help to create new value across industries and society, and so should be a national policy priority. Policymakers need to carefully map the 5G ecosystem to understand its components; stakeholders and interdependencies. That will enable them to take meaningful action to accelerate 5G deployment throughout the country; and maximize its innate potential.
