Cybersecurity in the post-Covid world

01 NOV,2020 | MEDC

An unintended consequence of Covid is that the number of cyberattacks on banking and financial institutions, as well as individuals, are increasing, and data security is being compromised. The cyber threat is emerging as probably the biggest danger posed to society by technology. With the growing importance of personal information, data-theft has become a lucrative area for cyber criminals in the dark web. With both businesses and individuals becoming increasingly active in cyberspace, their online susceptibility hasrisen. In the cyber-world, technological advantages tend to be double-edged. Withmore and more people now working from home, digital vulnerability has risen, and cyber criminalsare employing increasingly brazen tactics. The precise challenges ahead are not yet clear, but a proactive strategy on the part of policymakers covering various eventualities is not optional. That is the only way to ensure a digital pandemic does not add to our existing woes.
