In both the public and private sectors, Covid has forced adoption of sustainable solutions in the workplace. The global supply chain is being redesigned and redefined, not just in terms of punctuality but also in terms of resilience. Technologies robust enough to withstand shocks are now in vogue. There is a perceptible shift to digital and green channels across industries. The challenge however is to ensure that technologies are suitably differentiated for regions and sectors. They need to be based upon meaningful evidence from primary and secondary sources, as well as discussions within and across institutions and agencies. Higher productivity is a key ingredient for sustained economic growth and incomes, and adopting the right technologies will facilitate it. With economic sectors impacted very differently by Covid, some degree of resource reallocation is inevitable. Appropriate investments in sustainable technologies and know-how will help to minimize the pain of change, as well as provide long-term competitiveness to our economy.
