The importance of digitization in today’s situation cannot be exaggerated when people are repeatedly being told the necessity of social distancing and working from home in order to minimize contagion. Digitization does not apply only to the financial space. The judiciary is beginning to use video-conferencing to conduct hearings. The Indian medical community is also increasingly using technology to update itself and treat patients more cost-effectively. It is unfortunate that something that should have been done a long time ago to boost the efficacy of our economy is now being done under duress. The pandemic could be used as an opportunity for enhancing digitization in our system, and bringing us up to global technological standards in various socioeconomic spheres. If necessary, official policies could also be designed expressly for this purpose. That will hugely benefit our economy.
