Completing infra projects

07 NOV,2022 | MEDC

India's growth story is replete with the abandonment of infrastructure projects at various stages of their development process. But a welcome paradigm shift is now imminent. NITI Aayog has shortlisted 494 projects worth Rs. 5.66 trillion for completion by March 2023. Earlier this year, the Central government had tasked the Aayog to ensure the completion of laggard infra projects in mission mode. Many of these multistate projects got delayed on account of relatively trivial factors like communication and cooperation gaps between government departments and state and central ministries. Mapping all such loose infra projects and getting them under the auspices of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan will expedite their coordination. A positive and proactive approach on the part of the government helps, as, if well implemented, it could lead to huge employment and subsequent productivity gains.
