The commerce ministry is in discussions with the RBI to facilitate e-commerce exports by liberalizing the Foreign Exchange Management Act guidelines. The ministry is also working with the Department of Revenue and the Department of Post to facilitate e-commerce exports. Designating zones where accountability and responsibility is inbuilt, and clearing consignments rapidly, are at the top of the list. The ministry is also consulting several private stakeholders to work on a range of policies that impact e-commerce. E-commerce is a vital aspect of any modern nation’s business strategy. As e-commerce expands, it is likely to contain inflation due to cost savings, increased competition and (positive) changes in the pricing of goods and services.
