Increased focus on infrastructure development

The national highways programme will be restructured to create a network of highways grid of a desirable quality for better connectivity. Rivers will be used for the transportation of cargo. This will decongest roads and railways and lead to a smoother flow of traffic all over the country. Railways will be encouraged to make investments and expand their networks in suburban areas. In this context, public-private partnerships will be used extensively to enhance the delivery of passenger services in the economy. The government plans to invest Rs. 100 lakh crore in infrastructure in the coming five years, and that is good news for the growth prospects of the economy. These measures will benefit the industrial growth of the nation, as well as lead to sustained employment generation.
